Ritu Kumar Label Collection

I have always admired Ritu Kumar as a designer and felt she pioneered in taking our Indian traditional pieces and giving it a modern twist.

Every winner from the Femina Miss India contest, dreamed about adorning Ritu Kumars statement pieces at the international pageant.

After winning the title, it was a dream come true for me to meet the talented designer and to represent my country wearing her designs. I know a few of those outfits will be handed over to the generation next. It is timeless!

My love affair thus began and every time I made some money to splurge and treat myself I would collect a unique piece from her store and add that to my collection.

So when she launched her pret line, from basics, to party wear and even catering for the closet bohemian like myself, I knew I had to visit her beautiful store in Colaba, Mumbai and own a piece.

This maroon dress is my favourite and so flattering on the body, despite the layers of fabric used to make it a flowy number. The zipper detailing on the front just adds a fun element to an otherwise gypsy inspired maxi dress and the small sun flower print makes this outfit stand out. Plus the deep pockets on both sides always wins my heart.

It never fails to receive compliments every time I travel with it. I usually pair it with a biker jacket and studded boots, keeping my jewellery understated, during winters. For summers, its just this beautiful dress and some flat sandals in gold and some statement earrings. This dress is every fashion bloggers dream outfit.

I’m happy that Ritu decided to create an affordable line yet allowing you to own a designer piece and do watch out for the sales, when such beautiful dresses are priced even better.

I got this one for INR 7000.

I knew this maroon colour was going to sell out soon, but I am linking a similar one just in case you are interested.

I’ve seen a lot of people love Ritu Kumar, & I see where they’re coming from, her pret line is pretty (no pun intended) but my idea of designer wear is a unique aesthetic. RKr seems expensive to me for what generic stuff she offers.
